Just a little more cruising
by Marilyn on

Hi folks, just cruising from Mooloolaba, through the Great Sandy Straits

and on to Bundaberg. We checked and double checked the weather, tides etc and had a good, uneventful crossing of the Wide Bay Bar. So much easier the second time.
Would still warn not to cut the corner when going into Garry's Anchorage.  Had a pleasant stay at the southern anchorage at Big Wood Island.
Now at Bundaberg and will most likely depart about 0400 for Pancake Creek.
Keep you posted.

The next adventure
by Marilyn on

Blog

Hi folks,

Well, now that the new Companion is printed and ready for purchase, the next little adventure for Marilyn will be a knee replacement so she will be off the water for awhile! She is already plotting and planning her next voyage once she is 'repaired'!

You never know where she may turn up!

Another Cruising Adventure
by Marilyn on

Hi folks,

Just advising that I'm out cruising again. This time from Port Douglas to Darwin aboard a 47' McIntosh sloop, Delphian. We have a crew of 4 and a ship's cat!

We have so far cruised from Port Douglas to Hope Islands, Lizard Island, Stokes Bay in the Flinders Group, Morris Island, beautiful Margaret Bay, then on to Escape River which feels like the Wild West.

We are now at Seisia near Bamaga, yesterday we caught the ferry to Thursday Island which was very interesting. Tomorrow we are off to make the dash to Gove. So no communications for awhile.

Land Cruising
by Marilyn on

Hi Folks,

Well, I'm back in the Northern Rivers. I gave the first Author Talk to the Friends of Ballina Library on Monday and all went well. They were interested and asked

lots of questions.

The next talks are at Tweed Heads Library and Brunswick Heads Library on the 11th July at 10am and 5pm respectively. Looking forward to that.

I am off to Maclean tomorrow to attend the Maclean Cruising Yacht Club meeting. Any coastal cruisers in the area are welcome along, 5pm at the RSL.

Cheers for now,

Marilyn

Home in Hobart
by Marilyn on

Hi, after a few rugged days at Roydon Island, it was off across Bass Strait.
Next morning was bathtub smooth (thank goodness) so the sail was not
much use! However, we made it to Eden and dropped the pick for a good
night's sleep before heading to the Mooring Wharf next morning.

Jenni and Denis are continuing their adventure on Ocean Child and can be
found on www.skipr.net  under Currently Cruising.

I caught the bus from Eden to Canberra, then direct flight to Hobart.
I am already missing being on 'the high seas!'

Flinders Island Tasmania
by Marilyn on

Hi all, we are anchored off Roydon Island which is on the western side of the

northern tip of Flinders Island. The weather has not been kinds to us and a big blow is expected later today (Thursday) which has delayed our dash
across the Strait.

High seas
by Marilyn on

Hi All,

It is great to be back cruising, tho as always the weather god's are not being all that kind to us. Had a few days in Norfolk Bay (great flathead), then came
through the Denison Canal to Chinamans at Maria. Few days at Bryans Corner (again good flathead), then a few rolly days in Wineglass Bay.
Up to Binalong Bay for a couple of days waiting for the St Helens Bar to calm
down, Binalong Bay is lovely. Now in St Helens for a few days to catch up on
the laundry, shopping etc....
