Coastal Cruising Companion  was compiled from notes gathered over two years of coastal cruising

by  Marilyn, novice sailor and an experienced skipper aboard a 35'/10.6m yacht. The novice sailor

wanted a 'travel guide' which would give information aimed at the cruising life, none could be found.


So, notes were typed up, photographs added, maps sketched, telephone numbers, websites and

nautical mile grids, helpful hints were included. A small A5 display book with plastic pages sourced,

pages were printed and a small army of family diligently put it all together. It proved to be popular and

the first edition sold out.

Marilyn has cruised across Bass Strait a few more times, as well as Port Douglas to Darwin and then

on to Indonesia for 2 months of the Sail Indonesia Rally in 2013. Whilst cruising she spoke with many

sailors who asked about Tasmania and so she has included much more in the new second edition.

In 2014 Marilyn has added a bit more coastal cruising to her sea miles, Mooloolaba to Gladstone and

then a stint in the Whitsundays. Anything to get away from the cold Tassie winter!!
